One of the challenges in creating a website is
getting what you want the user to see to actually appear in
his web browser. This is because no browser really complies
with the published standards that are supposed to govern
web applications. If you are using Internet Explorer, then
the image of the projector at the bottom of this window is
probably off-center to the right. If your are using a more
standards-compliant browser, such as Firefox or Opera, then
the projector should be centered (where it's supposed to
be), but some of the fonts used will not be rendered
properly. This is because of the way Windows displays text.
As of the date this is being posted, the only Windows
browser that displays text correctly (i.e., as in a
typographer's font book) is Safari. If you want to see what
this site is supposed to look like, you can download Safari
for free by clicking on the Safari logo (it looks like a
compass) above. By the way, if this page is being displayed
properly, the Safari logo is not in a blue or grey box; it
should be displayed with only a grey dashed line beneath
it.
Here's how Windows displays several fonts:
Here's what they are supposed to look like.
